BIBS AND BEADS

A short trip to Manila last March led me to a shopping frenzy, 2 days prior my departure. Good thing Aldevinco is right across Marco Polo Davao. One leap over the pedestrian lane and I found myself in the city's signature shopping district, searching for souvenir giveaways that are distinctly Davao made. My itinerary for this Manila trip included meetings with top fashion bloggers and lifestyle editors of premier glossies and broadsheets. Thus, the need for a set of mementos, characteristically made to impress the sophisticated.

I've carried Malagos cheese and tablea, scarves, and hand bags in my previous visits and media calls. This time around, I  decided to give Manila's by-liners a bit of fashion fix with unique necklaces, just to show to them the precious trinkets Davao has to offer.

And it wasn't easy choosing from the wide selection of handmade crafts and fashion commodities showcased on window displays. Far from my most recent memory of this area, the shops are now populated with trendy fabrics and trinkets that are more than the usual pearls and beads that Aldevinco is primarily known for.

Inside each shop you'd see layered links and bib-style necklaces made with local materials, sparkling stones and jewels, and mixed up metals.

Statement necklaces are a big hit now, and are fast becoming a fashion must-have. From glamorous gems to colorful baubles, you can never go wrong with a statement necklace. They're perfect for dressing up a single outfit.

Ain't this one utterly Divine (Lee)?
Any girl hooked to accessories will go gaga, hopping from one shop to another, picking out statement pieces which are, suprisingly, very affordable... Well, maybe only in Aldevinco.

So it was final. I set my budget on these statements necklaces and went through each item meticulously. The whole shopping experience was a close fight between budget and purpose. And since we all have own own taste in styling, I picked out pieces which I think would suit the personality of each writer.

This is what I got for fashion blogger and Mango IT GIRL, Camille Co.

And this is how the necklace hyped her look.

Aww. You're welcome, Camille! We just love how you style yourself.

Here's Preview magazine's twitpic showing Isha Andaya-Valles of StyleBibl.PH, wearing the layered bead necklace I gave her. I love her edgy look here.

Like 'em bibs and beads? Make a statement with any of these fab accessories. Make sure to visit Aldevinco whenever you're in Davao City.
